My first 15k

After a trip to the Dr.'s office on Friday at 10:30 and after a quick ultra sound to make sure baby # 2 was developing fine I was cleared to run in my first 15K.

I registered for the Sugarloaf 15k back in January or February and was really excited to make this adventure and finish a 15k.

To my dismay I found out April 1st that our family would be growing and we were expecting (un expectedly) baby #2.

I was determined to run anyway and after getting the approval on Friday I knew I could do it!  Saturday afternoon I went down to the mountain and got my race shirt, my bib and all my race goodies.

I was super excited and nervous at the same time.

I can't wait to wear this shirt and be proud.

As I ran the race I had said get the first 6 miles run and I can walk/ run the last 3.  Little to say I ran all 9.3 without walking and felt really good.

I finished in a time on 1 hours, 50 minutes and 26 sec.  I am super proud of that time being I completed this race 10 weeks and 5 days pregnant.

Disappointment with my race:  was hoping to see my little man and family at the finish line but they didn't realize how long it would take them to get through all the marathon traffic and they didn't make it.  More hopes for next time that my little family can watch me finish my next race.

Yesterday!

I got a nice 4 mile run in yesterday with the nice weather.  I left J with his dad to go do some work at my grandparents and I headed out from home to my grandparents.

It was about 58 degrees out and the sun was shining bright.

The only bummer was only one ear piece was working so my music wasn't the greatest.

I am on the count down 10 days till my first 15k.  As long as all goes well between now and then.

Today's Run

This morning I started out with P90X3 dynamics workout.   Tomorrow starts transition week meaning I have been at it for almost one month!

Then mid day while J stayed with his grandparents I ran home to get a nice short run in.

5 min warm up, 15 run, 5 min walk, 20 min run, 5 min cool down.

Pleased.

I was a bit sore about the 15 minute mark and stopped enough to stretch.  Didn't want to overdo it today as I am going to try to hit the Cinnamon Bun run tomorrow with Kennebec Valley Coaching which means 8 miles is the goal.

Yesterday's Run

Last night I did my P90X3 Warrior workout in late evening.

Then followed it after J went to bed with this.....

a 5 min warm up walk, 30 min run and 5 min cool down.

Was pretty happy with that at 9:30 last night

Failure!

I haven't been doing so well lately and have been such a failure.

I haven't run in a week, I haven't been eating right, I'm just shutting down.

However,  I have stayed on top of the P90X3 workouts because I have been doing those after J goes to bed.

Until, TODAY!  I set the alarm for a whopping 5:15 to get the workout done before he gets up.  This should allow me on a normal day to get my running in either after work but before dinner, or maybe even after dinner.  The other possibility is after J goes to bed I could get my run in.

I have decided I need to make a commitment to better myself and make myself a little happier.

We will see how it goes.  This week I have something going every night so just the workouts in the morning will help that and we will see if I get a run in any afternoon/evening.

Last night!

Last night I was able to get a decent run in.

I did my normal 5 min warm up and 5 min cool down with a 45 minute run.

It sure felt pretty good to run after 3 days of not running.

I did this run before dinner, then after I put J to bed I finished my night with P90X3 AgilityX which is also a cardio workout.

Tonight will be yoga which will feel good.

And I'm off

Another day, Another run

Although today was a bit shorter of a run

5 min warm up, 20 min run, 5 cool down.

I chose to go a bit shorter today after the first day of P90X3 yesterday and completing my P90X3 fitness test this morning I didn't want to over due things and end up in pain or injury.

So back at it again tomorrow, a P90X3 workout and an interval run are in the plans.

Today was a great day!

The FedEx guy showed up on my door step an hour before nap time with my new P90X3 workout.   So nap time came and this momma got her but kicked with a workout.

Then to follow when the hubby got home, I had decided I was going to do a good run and I stuck to my word.  So while the boys played upstairs I went to the basement.

And there we have it!  A 5 min warm up and cool down with 50 minutes of running in the middle.  Those 50 minutes were 5.13 miles total.

Off to sleep till tomorrow as I dream about more good workouts!

February 12th

After getting home to realize there was no heat and no hot water and that the source of the problem was frozen pipes between my mudroom and garage I thought for sure there would be no run for me today.

However,  I got the Little One down to bed and the pipes were still frozen so my husband was still up so aways I went!

Decided I might as well run instead of just hang out on the couch and watch tv.

Work informed us at 6:00 this morning that we will be getting out at noon so I am thinking maybe I can get a good run in tonight!

Getting Back into it!

So, I made the decision to commit to running and sign up for a 15 k .  I got all ready to start training and had all plans to start Tuesday February 1st.

As you would know....my plan failed.

I came down with strep and had a hard time getting over it.

So tonight was the new night.

I got on the treadmill with all intentions of a 30 min/3 mile run.  Little did I know strep takes so much out of you and it takes so long to get over that it really did a number on my breathing.

So this is where I finished it out.....

I managed 3 miles in 35 minutes being a 5 min. warm up, 10 min run, 5 min walk, 10 min run, 5 min cool down.

And burning a great 480 calories.

So tomorrow I may get a short run in as well after bed time but I work till 4 and have a meeting from 6-8 so I would like to see something in the work out plan.

I've made a decision.....

Last night a decided to finally cave and sign up for a 15k.

I enjoy running and love having some time to myself with the open road and my music and the occasional stroller.

Last year I wanted to check 5k off the bucket list and signed up for my first one on August 24th then proceeded to finish  out the year with another 3 more 5k runs after that.

I ran a lot in college.  I don't go for speed, I like to keep track of my distance, I enjoy setting aside my time and running.

With that .........

Starting Monday I start a new running program working up to get to my distance for 15k.
